Airmen Dump Caterpillars, 6-3
|
The Alameda Airmen beat the Grand Forks Caterpillars, 6-3. Alameda pitcher and Oceanside, California, native Larry Oliver led the way. Vaughn Collier notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record now sits at 3-0. At 16-19, the Airmen claim 8th place in the Silver A.
Tom Sloan tagged a home run off Ben Barrett in the bottom of the sixth. His 2-run blast put the Airmen on top, 5-3. In all, Sloan had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Larry is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Alameda manager Gonzalo Féliz.
