Vandals Snag 3-2 Win
|
The Eugene Vandals picked up a win at Alameda Field, knocking off the Alameda Airmen, 3-2. Starting pitcher Yoshitaka Shinohara played a key role in the triumph. In 8 innings, Shinohara surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Steffen Camp got credit for the save for Eugene. It was his 8th of the year.
Runs were few and far between in this one. So, Soo-keun Yi's at-bat with one out in the top of the eighth was crucial. The Eugene second baseman hit a sacrifice fly, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
"I liked his command," said Eugene manager José Cervantes. "Yoshitaka was throwing strikes."
After today's action, Eugene sits at 12-18, while Alameda falls to 14-16.
