Behind a solid performance from left fielder Kelsey Tate, the Monroeville Yinzers defeated the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 11-1. Tate went 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Yinzers. José Sandoval, the winning pitcher, is now 1-1. He went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 5 hits, while fanning 10 and walking 2. Monroeville is 4th in the Silver A with a record of 13-10.
Chris McNally, the Monroeville first baseman, contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to make the score 2-1, Yinzers. For the game, McNally went 1 for 3 with a hit by pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"This is one game in a long season," said losing manager Hong Wei Cao. "The sooner we can forget about it, the better."
