Reapers Defeat Yinzers, 3-2
|
The Grim Reapers topped the Monroeville Yinzers, 3-2, in USSL Single A action at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Grim pitcher and Edina, Minnesota, native Robert Cobb. Grim reliever António Gómez picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Ray Mitrou was tagged with the loss. Jeremy Rice closed the game out for Grim, earning his 1st save.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Martin Johnstone's at-bat in the top of the 11th was vitally important. With two out, the Grim left fielder drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
In postgame remarks, Cobb simply said: "Here's to a great win!"
Grim, now 14-4, is playing great baseball to start the year.
