The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus had to overcome a good performance from Holy City pitcher Aaron Ellicott to claim a 3-2 win at Mango Yard. Ellicott went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The Hobeaus raised their record to 1-4.
Smoky Mountain used the timely hitting of Randy Stokes to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hobeaus on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Smoky Mountain manager Hong Wei Cao.
