Hawks Topple Torch, 4-3

Hawks Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Laredo Hawks and Mancelona Torch.
Laredo rode a decent outing from starter Desi Riley to victory over the Mancelona Torch. The final score was 4-3. The winner was Laredo reliever Woody Johnston, now 3-4. The loser was Tristan Liefting.
The Hawks beat the Torch with some clutch hitting. The single by Alden Swain in the bottom of the seventh is a good example. With two down, Swain gave his team the lead, 4-3, when he came through with the big hit.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Laredo manager Troy Grant.
The Hawks are now 49-40, while the Torch fall to 32-57.
