The Greenville 84s satisfied the home crowd at 84s Field, treating them to a season-opening win, 11-1, over the Detroit Elite. Catcher Sung-jae Hong was the standout performer for Greenville. Reliever Dave Bass picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Carlos Sandoval took the loss.

Early in the game, Hong had a 2-run home run for Greenville. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the 84s on top, 2-0.

Hong told a Greenville Daily News reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
