Tula Take Down Manatees, 3-2
|
The Chicago Tula did just enough to sneak past the Matlacha Manatees, 3-2, at Fuller Park. Chicago pitcher Darien Chalmers, in particular, had a standout performance. Chicago reliever Darien Chalmers got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Patrick Wood was tagged with the loss. Phil Chamings picked up the save for Chicago, his 1st of the year.
Runs were hard to come by in this one. Leo Spaceman's at-bat with no one out in the top of the 15th, therefore, was critical. The Chicago center fielder hit a sacrifice fly, to put his team on top, 3-2.
Matlacha manager Peter Williams said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
The winning continues for Chicago, with the latest making it 10 straight.
