The Chicago Tula extended their winning streak.
Matlacha right fielder Dan Stoffel had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Stoffel went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Chicago beat the Manatees, 3-2. Román Martínez earned the save for Chicago, his 11th of the year.
Edmund Hall aided the Chicago cause with a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop was 1-3 with a double and was hit by a pitch.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Chicago manager Ben Cooper.
The first-place Tula have won 8 straight games.
