The Alaskan Bush Pilots beat the Matlacha Manatees by a score of 6-4. Alaskan shortstop Corey Nichols deserved the lion's share of the credit. Nichols went 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Bush Pilots. Alaskan reliever Ricardo Ortíz was the winner. His record is now 1-0. William Morris took the loss. Shi-xian Zou picked up the save, his 2nd.
Nichols had a timely hit for Alaskan in the bottom of the sixth. With Matlacha trailing 4-2, he turned a 0-2 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season, making it 5-4, Alaskan.
"Winning is hard sometimes," said Bush Pilots manager Edward Whipp. "This one was nice to get."
Alaskan, with the win, is 7-15.
