Highlanders Fall to Fighting Imps, 5-2
|
The Ithaca Fighting Imps took Asheville pitcher Felipe Flores's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Asheville Park. The final score had Ithaca getting past the Highlanders, 5-2. Flores went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 6. The win belongs to Marcus Nielsen in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Felipe Flores took the loss for Asheville. At 45-48, the Fighting Imps are currently 6th in the Premier AA.
Ithaca used the bat of Evan Winn to capture the win. The second baseman jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Fighting Imps ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Winn said.
