Atoms Beat Highlanders, 2-1

The Bethesda Atoms faced a tough opponent in Asheville pitcher Juan Ramírez, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Atoms Field by a final score of 2-1. Ramírez went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. At 34-46, the Atoms find themselves in 7th place in the Premier AA.
In the bottom of the sixth, Bethesda pinch hitter Claude Thomas put his team on top. With two out and a runner on 1st, he hit his 3rd home run of the year. Asheville pitcher Rick Behan served it up. Just like that, the Atoms were ahead, 2-1.
"Tough loss," said Asheville manager Pancho Campos. "But we'll learn from it."
