Minnesota pitcher Sidney Jones did his part in helping his team beat the Asheville Highlanders, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Elton Johnson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. His record now sits at 4-1. Matt Dougherty finished to wrap up his 8th save.

Robin Merlet was 1-4 for Minnesota. The 23-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Rob Sawyer. It was his 21st RBI of the season.
