Screaming Eagles Handled by Tacoma, 4-3

The Tacoma Fur Traders had to overcome a fine effort from Mercer Island pitcher Francisco Encarnación to grab a narrow 4-3 win at Ballpark of Tacoma. Encarnación went 6.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. Dean Kluin, the winner, improved to 2-1. He held Mercer Island to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. John Willis earned the save, his 7th.
The Fur Traders got a big at-bat from third baseman Milo Payne, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 2-run double. It was his 3rd double of the season and put the Fur Traders on top, 4-2.
In comments to the Tacoma Gazette, Payne insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
The win makes Tacoma 19-37.
