Atoms Go Down to Defeat, 4-3
Mercer Island starter Sixto Espinosa pitched well against the Bethesda Atoms at Mercer Island Grounds. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Espinosa got the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed 3 hits and walked 2 over 5 innings. Espinosa allowed 2 runs. Jerry Gordon earned the save, his 1st.

The game hit a turning point in the bottom of the fifth inning, when the Screaming Eagles were trailing 2-1. Adam Bell delivered a two-out 3-run home run for Mercer Island, catapulting his team into the lead.

"We're scuffling right now," said losing manager Cody Blackburn.

Bethesda, now 2-10, continues its dreadful start.
