Loons Get 7-5 Win Versus Mercer Island
The Minnesota Loons picked up a win at Loony Bin, taking down the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 7-5. Starting pitcher Joe Thomas was a big reason why. Thomas went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-0. Matt Dougherty picked up the save, his 1st.

Minnesota catcher César Núñez contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a cutter into left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 1st hit of the season and put the Loons ahead, 2-1.

"Joe was throwing free and easy," said Minnesota manager Eddie O'Bryan.

The loss lowers the Mercer Island record to 0-2.
