Hops Snag 3-2 Win
|
The St. Petersburg Thunder got a superb performance from pitcher André Chambon. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Yakima. The Hops won the game, 3-2. Chambon threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Rob Dougherty, now 2-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The first-place Hops lifted their record to 57-39.
Thomas Austin drew 1 walk for Yakima. In a tie game with two out in the bottom of the eighth, Austin came through with a run-scoring walk. It put the Hops in front, 3-2.
"We squandered some opportunities," said St. Petersburg manager Terrence Eler.
