Dolphins Snag 5-2 Win
|
Chesapeake got a terrific performance from pitcher Ted Elkins, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pine Island Dolphins. Pine Island won the Goodyear Hanger Dome contest, 5-2. Elkins threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Pedro Bernal, now 3-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Pine Island is in second place in the Silver AA with a record of 52-44.
Pine Island took a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With two out, designated hitter Malik bin Nadim hit a 3-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Pine Island manager Ángel Rosa.
