The Pine Island Dolphins beat the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 6-1. Pine Island pitcher and Cul De Sac, Sint Maarten, native Hendrikjan de Gilde led the way. The winning pitcher was de Gilde, now 3-5. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 7.

Tied up with the Thunder Hawks in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Dolphins got a boost from third baseman Nazeem Abdul-Basit. With the bases loaded, Abdul-Basit saw a first pitch sinker from Ze-dong Jiao and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Pine Island on top, 3-1.

"They played a better game than we did," said Ft. Polk South skipper Mike Evans.

The victory gives Pine Island a record of 50-42.
