Polar Bears Go Down to Defeat, 8-7
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks grabbed a win, 8-7, over the Billings Polar Bears at Thunder Hawks Ballpark. Ft. Polk South second baseman Jeffrey Harris was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. Kurt Hilas, the winning pitcher, is now 6-2. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 2. Manuel Liscano was credited with the save for Ft. Polk South, his 2nd of the season.
With Ft. Polk South leading 6-4 in the bottom of the fifth, Harris hit a 2-run single off Billings hurler Tommy Adams. It was the 26th hit of the season for Harris and put his team ahead, 8-4.
Thunder Hawks manager Mike Evans wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
With the win, Ft. Polk South goes to 37-38, while the Polar Bears fall to 34-41.
