The Olympia Ogres took Squirrel Hill pitcher José Contreras's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Ogre Den. The final score had Olympia getting past the Pierogis, 5-3. Contreras went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 7. Olympia currently is in last place in the Silver AA at 22-31.
Júlio Medina drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Olympia. The 23-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Eduardo Rocha. It was his 15th walk of the season.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Medina told a Olympia Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
