Thunder Hawks Stay Hot, Beat Dolphins, 4-3
|
Ft. Polk South picked up a win at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, toppling the Pine Island Dolphins, 4-3. Pitcher Kurt Hilas was one of the reasons the Thunder Hawks triumphed. In 7 innings, Hilas surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. The second-place Thunder Hawks improved to 25-20.
The Thunder Hawks grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Richard Charles hit a solo home run off Diego Pounds, putting Ft. Polk South in front, 4-1. For Charles, it was his 5th home run of the season.
In postgame remarks, Hilas said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
