Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Hops
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Yakima Hops and Olympia Ogres.
The Yakima Hops took Olympia pitcher Ramiro Ramírez's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Ogre Den. The final score had Yakima getting past the Ogres, 6-2. Ramírez went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 4. Yakima is in second place in the Silver AA with a record of 24-16.
Yakima used the timely hitting of Ánibal Rodríguez to capture the win. The shortstop socked a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hops ahead, 6-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Rodríguez told the Yakima Bulletin.
