Squirrel Hill Pierogis starter William Hood had all his pitches working at Field of the Rawhides. His stellar performance paved the way for an easy 10-2 Squirrel Hill win over the Billings Polar Bears. Hood went 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-2. The Pierogis have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 4th win in 16 games.

The Pierogis got a big hit from second baseman Miguel Quintana. In the bottom of the sixth, Quintana pounded a bases-clearing double to left. His 1st double of the season put the Pierogis ahead, 10-2.
