Cangrejos Fantasmas Sneak Past Pierogis, 4-3

Field of the Rawhides was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas and Squirrel Hill Pierogis.
Squirrel Hill got a big-time effort from pitcher Tucker Gross, but it wasn't enough to keep the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas from winning the game, 4-3. Gross threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Michael Sawyer earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0.
Chesapeake used the timely hitting of Waihoroi Ieke to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cangrejos Fantasmas on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Chesapeake manager Jorge Baca applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The Pierogis, at 3-11, have stumbled out of the gate.
