Ortíz Twirls a Gem for St. Petersburg
|
Right-hander Jorge Ortíz mesmerized the Squirrel Hill Pierogis while leading the St. Petersburg Thunder to a 2-0 victory. Ed Wheeler got credit for the save for St. Petersburg. It was his 3rd of the year. St. Petersburg now has a record of 3-2.
Ortíz, who was born in Delano, California, threw 98 pitches over 6.1 innings, while allowing no runs.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Ortíz.
