Guinea Pigs Top Ottawa, 3-2
|
The Gwinnett Guinea Pigs eked out a 3-2 win versus the Ottawa Fat Cats at Nationals Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Brody Avery. He was terrific. Larry Pulsifer earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He upped his record to 3-2. The Fat Cats have now dropped 6 straight.
Gwinnett used the clutch hitting of Jason Whittier to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Guinea Pigs ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Gwinnett manager Pedro Vázquez.
