Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Whales
The Virginia Beach Whales did just enough to secure a victory over the Ottawa Fat Cats, 3-2, at Virginia Beach Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Henry Peters. Ric Nelson, credited with the win, is now 4-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits. With the win, Virginia Beach has a record of 50-36. Ottawa falls to 38-48.

The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Virginia Beach trailing 2-1, Michael Mitchell hit a sinker from Carlos Rangel for a 2-run home run, giving the Whales the walk-off win.

"This place was jumping at the end," Mitchell said.
