Ottawa Fat Cats starter Anthon Arents pitched a strong game against the Virginia Beach Whales at Virginia Beach Grounds, leading the Fat Cats to victory, 3-2. The winner was Gerald Jones in relief. His record improves to 3-7. Sosa Kiyomizu took the loss. Carlos Rangel finished the game for Ottawa and earned his 1st save.

Had Cosmo Aleluia not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Aleluia hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Fat Cats.

Afterward, Fat Cats manager Jorge Carranza was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."

After today's action, Ottawa sits at 38-47, while Virginia Beach falls to 49-36.
