Farmers Hang 5-4 Loss on Whales

Virginia Beach Grounds was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Lancaster Farmers and Virginia Beach Whales.
The Lancaster Farmers overcame a good performance by Virginia Beach center fielder Andrew King to knock off Virginia Beach, 5-4, at Virginia Beach Grounds. King belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Francisco Colón, the winning pitcher, is now 8-5. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 4 and walking 4. Earning his 17th save of the year was Juan Castro.
With two out in the top of the fifth, Andrew Barrett put Lancaster in front, 4-3, with a run-scoring single. The Farmers went on to win the ballgame.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Virginia Beach manager Marv Bradford said following the tough loss.
The 6th-place Farmers improved to 33-30.
