Virginia Beach Wins, Gutiérrez gets 6 RBI
The 9-6 Virginia Beach win over Lancaster was due in large part to Ashton Gutiérrez. The Whales third baseman went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 6 runs and scored once. The winner in relief was Michael Wright. He is now 5-1. The left-hander allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 2.1 innings. Éric Lemaire earned the save, his 4th, for the Whales.

Gutiérrez had a key at-bat for Virginia Beach early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and gave Virginia Beach an early 4-0 lead.

"This is a very good team," said Gutiérrez. "We have the chance to do something special."

The win makes Virginia Beach 37-25.
