Whales Saddle Ghosts with 9-7 Loss
The Virginia Beach Whales topped the Casper Ghosts, 9-7, with designated hitter Michael Mitchell playing a big role. Mitchell was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Whales in the win. Virginia Beach reliever Sosa Kiyomizu picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Gerjan Wemerman took the loss. At 33-24, the Whales find themselves in second place in the Menard's AA.

Virginia Beach took a 9-7 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Hernando Martínez hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Whales fans to their feet.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Mitchell told the Virginia Beach Bulletin. "You win just by scoring more runs."
