The Lancaster Farmers knocked off the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 5-3, at Mariachi Band Shell. Paul Smith was a big reason Lancaster won. The shortstop went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Juan Castro closed the game out for Lancaster, earning his 12th save. The Farmers improve their record to 26-23 with the win over Nuevo Mexico.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Miguel Mora? The Lancaster shortstop had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Farmers on top, 3-2. For the game, Mora had 1 double and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Lancaster manager Dave Davis.
