Miners Earn 5-2 Win Against Rails
|
Richland got a big-time effort from pitcher Francisco Chavarría, but it wasn't enough to keep the Marquette Miners from winning the game, 5-2. Chavarría threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The last-place Miners lifted their record to 12-22.
Marquette used the timely hitting of Wooga Poplar to capture the win. The second baseman socked a grand slam home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Miners ahead, 5-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"It feels good to get this one," Poplar told the Marquette Gazette.
