Miners Nip Fat Cats, 2-1
|
Marquette left-hander António Pineda helped his team edge Ottawa by the score of 2-1. Pineda kept the opposing lineup in check. The winner was Quincy Rose in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jesús Sánchez took the loss. Marquette, with the win, is 11-21.
Wooga Poplar was the walk-off hero for Marquette. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Miners second baseman hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.
"Every loss stings," said Ottawa manager Jorge Carranza. "This one is no exception."
