Stingers Squelch Ponies Offense in Shutout Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Kingston Ponies and Toledo Stingers get after it.
The Kingston Ponies got a superb performance from pitcher Nick Long, but the Toledo Stingers still won the game, 3-0. Long threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win gives Toledo a season record of 56-48.
In the bottom of the seventh, Toledo catcher Ernesto Reyes hit a two-strike sinker to left field for a run-scoring single. It put the Stingers up, 1-0.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Reyes.
