The Charleston Battery went home winners at Charleston Armory, thanks in large part to starter Luis Gutiérrez. Gutiérrez stifled the Colorado Billy Goats, enabling Charleston to grab the 1-0 win. James Tucker collected save number 19. The Billy Goats, at 43-46, have lost 5 in a row.
Early in the game, catcher Artie Walden had a run-scoring double for Charleston. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Battery on top, 1-0.
"I told Luis we needed some fire in the engine room," Battery manager Matt Hunt said, grinning. "And he responded."
