The Toledo Stingers beat the Kingston Ponies, 5-1, at Megaffin Park. The Stingers got a fine performance from left fielder Roberto Gómez, who was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Archie MacMurchy got the win, improving to 8-6. He worked 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. The win puts Toledo at 45-43 this season.
Toledo took a 3-0 lead on Gómez's 12th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Donald Kane in the top of the sixth, propelled Toledo to the win.
Gómez called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
