Stingers Beat Bowties, 5-3
|
The Toledo Stingers defeated the Buckhead Bowties, 5-3, in Menard's Third League action at Pacesetter Park. Toledo pitcher Ambrosi Pigafetta had a standout performance. Pigafetta picked up the win for Toledo, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-7. Amin Yahouse notched his 11th save in 14 chances.
Lester Threlfall dealt the Bowties a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Toledo trailing 3-2, Threlfall, who finished 3rd in the 3L in on-base percentage with .408 in 2050, hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Threlfall told the Toledo Bulletin.
The last-place Bowties have lost 4 consecutive games.
