Bowties Need Extra Innings to Top Battery, 3-2
|
The Buckhead Bowties topped the Charleston Battery, 3-2, in Menard's Third League action at Charleston Armory. The standout performance belonged to Buckhead pitcher and Elgin, Texas, native Matt Howe. Armando Trujillo earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 7-1. Buckhead, at 30-50, sits in 11th place in the Third League.
Buckhead used a clutch hit from Ieremia Mohala to snatch the win. The pinch hitter belted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bowties ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
Howe offered a curt "no comment" when asked to discuss the win after the game.
