Thomas Lifts Lakers to 5-1 Triumph
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 25-year old first baseman Tim Thomas, the Echo Park Lakers stopped the Dayton Dirty Reds, 5-1. Echo Park reliever Jeremy Dean was the winner. His record is now 5-2. Victor Jones took the loss. Echo Park, now 49-29, holds down second place in the Third League.
Thomas came through with some timely hitting for Echo Park. With Dayton trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Thomas hit a 2-2 forkball for a grand slam home run. His 18th home run of the season made it 4-1, Echo Park.
"We've got a great group of guys," Thomas said, "and we're having fun right now."
