Charleston overcame a superior effort from Roberto Chaumond to beat Nova Scotia, 4-3. The Nova Scotia pitcher threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The 9th-place Battery are 30-41.
When he came to bat in the bottom of the tenth, José Arroyo had a chance to be the hero. Nova Scotia pitcher Martín Cedeño had other ideas. But with one out, Arroyo hit a sacrifice fly. The Battery had themselves a dramatic win.
"It was a test of wills," said Matt Hunt, the Charleston skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
