The Kingston Ponies defeated the Charleston Battery, 8-7, in Menard's Third League action at Megaffin Park. Salvador Ortega pulled his weight. The 8-year veteran went 3-3 with 2 home runs, a triple, and a walk. Claude Simon was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 5 save opportunities. The 4th-place Ponies have won 4 consecutive games.

Had Carlos Chávez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Chávez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 8-7, in favor of the Ponies.
