Win Streak Now at 8 for Rainbow Mermaids
|
Javier Cuesta never let the Leviathan get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his screwball, to pitch the Rainbow Mermaids to a win, 3-1. Northern Virginia reliever Javier Cuesta got the win, raising his record to 7-0. Ben Frazier was tagged with the loss. The win puts Northern Virginia at 47-14 this season.
In the top of the ninth, Kenneth Alexander stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Leviathan were trailing 3-1, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Horace Cope made a terrific pitch and Alexander flied out. Gone was the dream of a Nova Scotia comeback.
