The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeated the Buckhead Bowties, 5-2, in Menard's Third League action at 5 Paces Park. Northern Virginia pitcher Stanley Osborne had a standout performance. Northern Virginia has a record of 40-14, placing them first in the Third League.

Marcos Janero had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for Northern Virginia. He came through with a solo home run to put Northern Virginia in front, 3-1.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Osborne said.
