Rivera Deals Marquette 3-1 Setback
|
Fernando Rivera was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Barton Springs and Marquette. The Blues right-hander helped his team beat the Miners, 3-1. José Vargas got the save, the 4th for him this season. With the win, Barton Springs lifts its record to 5-4.
Rivera earned the win, going 8 strong innings for Barton Springs. The right-hander allowed just 2 hits, while striking out 7. Marquette hitters had little success against him.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Barton Springs manager Albert Emery said.
