The Lake Murray MotorBoaters got a superb performance from pitcher Don House, but the Virginia Beach Whales still won the game, 2-1. House threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Virginia Beach reliever Michael Wright picked up the win to move to 2-0. Don House suffered the loss. The Whales, now 3-1, have hit the ground running this season.

Don Knight had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for Virginia Beach. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Virginia Beach in front, 2-0.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Knight said.
