Monongahela got a decent performance from pitcher Laionela Pualani, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kansas Rainbeaus. Kansas won the Wichita Field contest, 3-2. Pualani threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Francisco Rodríguez notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.1 innings. His record now sits at 2-4. The win puts the Rainbeaus at 47-54, while the Monsters drop to 44-57.
Making an impact for the home team was Jesús Chavarría. In the bottom of the sixth, the 24-year old left fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 3-2, Rainbeaus.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Monongahela manager Sancho Tornero.
