Skidding Monsters Lose 7th Straight
Monongahela got a terrific performance from pitcher Richard Miller, but it wasn't enough to beat the Port Huron Blitzkrieg. Port Huron won the Timber Hawks Ballpark contest, 6-4. Miller threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win belongs to Kensaku Sanu in relief. His record improves to 2-5. Carlos Vázquez took the loss for Monongahela. Gil Childers converted his 25th save in 27 tries.

Port Huron used the clutch hitting of Shawn Maldonado to capture the win. The catcher drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blitzkrieg ahead, 6-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Maldonado told the Port Huron Gazette. "But we take nothing for granted."

The Monsters, at 42-55, have lost 7 in a row.
