Redlegs Take Nail-Biter Over Drummers
|
Fans watched the Sacramento Redlegs and the Tortolita Drummers fight to the finish.
The Sacramento Redlegs defeated the Tortolita Drummers, 5-4, at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Esteban Ortega was a standout performer for Sacramento. His 5 hits included 3 singles and 2 doubles, in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Chris Evans, now 4-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 0.
The Redlegs procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Sandross Bañaga. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Luis Ríos, the Sacramento skipper. "This one tested us."
The Redlegs now have a record of 47-36 with the win over Tortolita.
